The following graphic, from Reddit user Jcceagle, shows the market share of the most common phone brands from December 1992 to December 2021.
From the looks of it, the Samsung era has peaked, which is too bad as, in addition to making great phones, it’s basically the only brand that doesn’t make their phones in China. Their gimmicky bet on foldable screen phones seems unlikely to help their cause.
Meanwhile, ‘American-in-name-only’ Apple, notorious for its massive investments in Chinese manufacturing and the hellish conditions of its sweat shops there, is becoming ascendant.
