Russia’s state-run Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) has released the following poll, showing Putin’s approval rating soaring from 60% to 71% in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Needless to say, state-run opinion polling on an autocrat in a country without free press is best thought of as a measure of their need for approval, not approval itself.
For a hint of how confident the Kremlin actually is of their surging popularity, they just shut down the two most prominent media outlets allowed to occasionally criticize the Kremlin, the Dozhd TV channel and Ekho Moskvy radio, for reporting on Russia’s setbacks in Ukraine. They are also having TV shows hold ‘myth-busting’ segments to explain how all of the photos and videos of Russian casualties are fake and how the bombing of the Kyiv TV Tower, nuclear plants, and residential areas is about denazification of a country who’s president is Jewish.

I have to say I am a bit surprised that someone usually so level headed and able to sense the BS, has also been roped into the Vortex of propaganda. I’m just curious, are you aware that the people of Donetsk have been attacked and innocent people murdered by their own supposed government for the last 8 years, including burning a building with innocent people in it to the ground? … shelling residential neighborhoods? 8 years this has been going on and that’s why our slave masters were quick to make sure everyone was quick to blindly hate Russia, because… Read more »
If this is Iraq all over again, Putin would be playing the role of Bush. You’ve got your analogy upside-down. Russia is invading Ukraine, not the US. The claims about Donetsk are coming from the people using those claims as justification to invade another country, a country they also have said for years isn’t a real country. Also the same people are saying Ukrainian’s Jewish president is a Nazi and that they’re not bombing civilians areas in Ukraine that they clearly are bombing and are the same people that were cracking jokes a couple weeks ago over claims that they… Read more »
Fact of the matter is the USA orchestrated and promoted a coup of the democratically elected government of Ukraine in 2014. Stockman gives a pretty good analysis that pretty much sums up all the realities that I’ve been seeing play out since then. What we are seeing play out NOW did NOT just suddenly start now. And using Iraq as an example, (a war that I personally opposed with every fiber of my being) is not an apples to apples comparisons …… Iraq doesn’t border the USA. Ukraine: The Country Where History Died https://www.sott.net/article/465019-Ukraine-The-Country-Where-History-Died I’ve been following this since 2013,… Read more »
You are more right than wrong, if you are wrong at all, in your analysis.
Distance is time for Russia.for both Napoleons attack and Germany’s attack in WW2,the biggest ally of Russia was distance.Napoleons armies could not be supplied.Because of the distance and then the winter it was prohibitive for an army to live.Putin needs the distance Ukraine gives to his border !!
