The Epoch Times’ Jan Jekielek recently spoke with China expert Charles Burton, a senior fellow at Canada’s Macdonald-Laurier Institute, about China’s campaign to suppress academic critics around the world and steal intellectual property.
Mr. Burton details the specific example of Professor Anne-Marie Brady, a leading authority on Chinese communist influence, who is being subjected to investigation by her New Zealand university for revealing the scale of Chinese academic capture and manipulation in academia (including at her own university). He also discusses the broader effort by the Chinese Communist Party to extract intellectual property from Western institutes of higher education and to shape public narratives.
