The following chart, from Sam Ro, shows the number of cargo ships waiting to onload at the Port of Los Angeles, the largest port in the US and the epicenter of supply-chain snarling congestion last year.
As one can see, the level of congestion has improved notably and the number of ships on their way to the port – but not net arrived – has fallen dramatically. Congestion levels are still in excess of the near-zero levels seen before Covid, but it looks like the worst may very well be behind us on this one issue.
