According to the Association of American Railroads, US cargo rail traffic is nearing 2019 levels, reversing the sharp declines witnessed during the earlier Covid lockdown.
Certain categories of traffic have already surpassed 2019 levels, including intermodal (shipping containers) and grains:

Even automotive related cargoes are looking mostly recovered:
There is still significant disruptions in most other categories of traffic, but a recovery is certainly underway.
