The following chart from the FT via Science is Strategic, highlights China’s domination of nearly every key step of the electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chain:

As shown above, China is the largest producer of graphite, the largest processer/refiner of all of the major minerals going into lithium ion batteries, the largest producer of battery cells, and the largest assembler of EVs. While not shown in the chart, they also control nearly 100% of the NdPr rare earth processing used to make the permanent magnets in most EV’s electric motors, though a US based NdPr supply chain is slowing emerging.
