An estimated 95% of the global population now lives with air population above WHO health guidelines. 60% of people live with air dirtier than even the least stringent WHO air quality standards, most of them living in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
While smog is a problem for many, nowhere is the problem worse than in India’s fast growing cities. According to a recent analysis, 15 of the 20 most polluted cities in the world are now in India. The remaining five are in neighboring Pakistan, Bangladesh, and China. 25 of the top 50 most polluted cities are in India and 22 are in China.
