The following 3D scans show two friezes from Darius the Great’s palace at Susa, circa 510 BC, portraying a griffin and a lion. The scans were created by Benoît Rogez and Morty respectively.
Darius the Great was ‘King of Kings’ of the Achaemenid Empire at its peak. The ruins of his famous palace still exist in present day Iran and many friezes are on display in museums around the world.
