The following 3D scan shows the ‘Lion Panel’ cave art in the famous Chauvet Cave in Southern France. The cave was inhabited during the Upper Paleolithic and the artwork is estimated to have been made sometime between 30,000 and 37,000 years ago, making it among the oldest and best preserved cave art in the world. The drawings depict several extinct species including cave lions, cave hyenas, and woolly rhinoceros.
