For anyone that’s keeping track, India is on track to be the best performing large market in the world for the second year in a row this year and the best performing large market since 2019. Perhaps the most vocal champion of Indian markets has been Mark Mobius, Mobius Capital Partners founder, legendary emerging markets pioneer, and John Templeton acolyte.
Mark Mobius recently spoke with ET Now to double down on his bullishness on India and increasing bearishness on China.
Mark Mobius on China versus India:
“If you look at what’s happened with the Party Congress and the general change… in China where the idea of an open society is not taking place to the degree that we expected, it will be moving towards a Mao type of environment. The outlook for business isn’t going to be as good as it was in the past… Whereas in India, the opposite is taking place. The government is opening up the market more, they’re welcoming foreign investors, they’re giving incentives for people to come. So, I believe we are seeing a sea change, a very significant change for the world given that India and China are the largest countries in the world… We’re moving into a …historical shift towards India…”
We couldn’t agree more. There is much more the interview, so enjoy it above.
