Stephen Kotkin, professor of history at Princeton, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, author of several autorotative histories such as Armageddon Averted: The Soviet Collapse, recently sat down with Uncommon Knowledge’s Peter Robinson in a wide ranging discussion of present day China and Russia.
He makes a number key points on Russia, China, Ukraine, and the US including the punchline, one which Washington and Wall Street analysts are seemingly incapable of internalizing, namely that Xi Jinping is a genuine Communist and a student of the Soviet collapse who will never repeat the ‘mistake’ of attempting political reform and cannot allow independent economic power to emerge in China.
