I have never been a fan of Google. I don’t agree with their vision for the internet: an ever shrinking playpen of pasteurized search results, all encompassing surveillance, monopoly, and holier-than-thou moral authoritarianism.
If Big Tech’s reaction to our era’s increasing political polarization and skullduggery is going to be arbitrary censorship, anti-competitive practices, and overt partisanship, we’re headed for a very dark place.
Unfortunately, Google maintains a genuine monopoly on advertising for sites like this. As a result, I have used Google Adsense for the last few years.
While I still haven’t found any viable alternatives to Google Adsense (Adsense was barely worth using…), I’m tired of supporting a company that I don’t like. So, after weighing the various options, I am just going to get rid of Adsense.
From here on out, this website will be as ‘Big Tech’ free as possible. There will be no Google Ads, no Google Analytics, no social media share buttons with trackers, no Amazon. None of it. The only exception will be embedded YouTube videos because the free-speech alternatives, Rumble.com, BitChute.com, D.Tube, are still embryonic and the interviews that I share aren’t on those platforms… yet.
If I find a suitable alternative ad network, you may see ads here again in the future. Either way, I won’t be putting up a pay wall. That means that, for the foreseeable future, this website will subsist solely on your generous donations. I will try not to overdue the panhandling. Your support is greatly appreciated. You can donate here.
I hope that you enjoy the new Google & ad free experience!

bravo!
Great decision, we should all seek to reduce our exposure to their ecosystem, starting off with transition to the search engine, e.g. Duck Duck Go. Donated, thank you for all the information and commentaries!
Thank you so much Mario! Much appreciated. I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for a few years as my primary search engine. It’s gotten a lot better and, at this point, I rarely have to use anything else. Protonmail is a great alternative to Gmail. Signal for Whatsapp. There are lots of very viable alternatives. Less so for Andriod, Youtube, Adsense. But hopefully in time.
I can also recomand startpage.com its Search Engine based in Netherlands and very good at this point. No tracking and search results can be customized by region or language.
I believe Startpage uses the Google search engine through a proxy, which only solves half the problem
Hear, hear! I am leaving the Firefox browser for the same reasons. I don’t need to hear yet another CEO (Mozilla) spew her virtue all over us. Frankly, at this point it is becoming difficult to fully boycott all of the corporate entities that are trying to tell us how to live while, at the same time, they fall in line with China’s Communist demands. I am not aware of one single loudmouth CEO that has joined Dave Portnoy’s long list of contributors to help out small businesses that have been devastated by Covid shutdowns. He has raised over 30… Read more »
I couldn’t agree more. Have you settled on a new browser yet? I’ve been looking into Brave.
Related to Brave is Gab’s Dissenter browser.
