The following infographic, from Statista, shows the results of an analysis by pCloud into how much user data popular apps are sharing with thirds parties (on Apple iOS). Various types of user data were grouped into 14 categories and the apps were then ranked based on how many of these categories they shared with third parties.
Not too surprisingly, unrepentant serial privacy-abuser Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram come out as the worst offenders. Microsoft-owned Linkedin comes in third, followed by UberEats, and Google-owned YouTube.
The good news is that not using these apps is remarkably easy. Some can be forgotten entirely. For others you can use the webpage instead of installing the app and for the rest there are privacy focused alternatives like MeWe.com, Odysee.com.
