While China is now the largest exporter in the world, it is easy to forget that it only claimed that title from the US six years ago (2013). Of course despite large exports, the US maintains large trade deficits whereas China and India run trade surpluses. China has made large progress in catching up to US in terms of GDP, though Chinese per capita GDP is still more than six times lower. India’s progress in all the economic categories has lagged China’s by several fold.
