There has been a growing debate about the viability of aircraft carriers, the backbone of the US Navy, in a world increasingly full of powerful long range hyper-sonic missiles, sophisticated attack submarines, and aerial drones. The following is a long format discussion, held by the Heritage Foundation, about the future viability of aircraft carriers. Without a doubt, it is a very expensive target.
As long as conflicts are restricted to “Local”insurgencies then they are effective especially for “showing the flag”.In any large conflict they are very vulnerable and,yes,an expensive target !
