Building on our collection of posts about the changing front lines of the world’s most infamous wars (WWI and WII), from YouTube creator Ollie Bye, the following video shows the evolving map of Europe every other day during the Napoleonic Wars. In many ways, the Napoleonic Wars were the first true world wars. They resulted in, or intersected with, several large scale conflicts across Europe and North and South America (see the War of 1812 and the so-called ‘Atlantic Revolutions‘).
As the video notes about the end of the wars: “The peace established in 1815 would act as the diplomatic for the next century until the outbreak of the First World War, during which time there was not a single major pan-European war.”
