As part of our ongoing series of historical video-maps, we present ‘Every Year of the Hundred Years’ War,’ by YouTube creator EmperorTigerstar. Beginning in April 1337 AD, the following video details the changing front lines of the Hundred Years’ War. The Hundred Years’ War, which actually lasted over 116 years, was a series of conflicts fought between the House of Plantagenet, rulers of the Kingdom of England, and the French House of Valois. Both royal houses disputed the rightful claim to rule the Kingdom of France. Despite intermediate success, the Kingdom of England eventually lost the war with the signing of the Treaty of Picquigny. The war marked several turning points for England and France including the replacement of feudal armies with professional troops, the decline of chivalry, and the rise of national identities in England and France.
